Miridiya Lake Resort Anuradhapura

I recently stayed at Miridiya Lake Resort in Anuradhapura, and it was an unforgettable experience. Although the property is older, the rooms are absolutely spacious and clean. I truly can’t emphasize enough how exceptional the service was from all the staff, especially the hotel manager, who consistently went the extra mile to ensure we felt comfortable and fully supported throughout our entire stay.

Rooms are small size. AC was not correctly position installed. Wasroom/bathroom choke up 2 times. Dinner and breakfast was excellent. swimming pool is small size. Garden area is good.

isappointing Experience at Hotel Miridiya, Anuradhapura Unfortunately, our stay at Hotel Miridiya did not meet expectations. While the property has potential due to its location near the lake and historical sites, several aspects of our visit were underwhelming and in need of serious improvement. The rooms felt outdated and not well-maintained — with issues like poor air conditioning, musty smells, and cleanliness concerns that made our stay uncomfortable. The bathrooms were particularly disappointing, with fixtures that needed repair and cleanliness that did not meet acceptable standards. The staff, although polite, seemed undertrained and slow to respond to basic requests. Room service was inconsistent, and the overall hospitality experience fell short. Additionally, the food offered at the restaurant lacked variety and freshness, which was unexpected for a hotel of this size. With better upkeep and attention to customer service, Hotel Miridiya could offer a much better experience. However, based on our visit, we would not recommend this hotel unless significant improvements are made.

During our Sri Lanka tour we had our First stay in this Hotel. The Property is good, the Lake View is fantastic, the Swimming Pool good and well maintained. The idea of having Breakfast and Dinner in Dining Hall Open to air on all four sides was unique but... The service was average ( though we arrived late at 9 PM, we were expecting something better ). The basic maintainence of Plumbing and Electrical Equipments was not upto the mark. ( We later found it at few other places also ) Food was above average. Being a Vegetarian our first problem was how to distinguish between Veg and NonVeg items. I found the solution on our last stay at Hotel Mirage Colombo, they had marked the Veg dishes with Green and Non Veg with Red, the way all edibles products in India are marked.

Horrendous Experience – Not Worth Even Half the Price My stay at Miridiya Lake Resort was hands down the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. For a so-called 4-star hotel, this place is a disgrace. The food was terrible, with very few options to choose from, and the dishes and utensils were visibly dirty. The room was an absolute nightmare. I’ve stayed in 2-star hotels with better cleanliness and facilities. The moment I opened the bathroom door, I was hit by a horrible stench. Every faucet and handle was covered in a white buildup, making them so disgusting. Charging such high prices for this level of filth and disrepair is an absolute joke. This hotel isn’t even close to a 4-star standard. If you value your money and comfort, stay far away from this place. It’s by far the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
