🌴✈️ Bandaranaike International Airport (Sri Lanka) has always been my main gateway to the world! 🌍 I’ve travelled to Malaysia, India, and Dubai – all through this airport. 🇱🇰✨ 🛂 Immigration process is usually smooth and well-managed. 🧳 Baggage handling is good and staff are helpful. 🧼 Cleanliness and maintenance have improved over time. 🍴 There are decent food options and waiting areas. Whether it’s an international trip or returning home, this airport gives me a familiar and comfortable feeling every time. ❤️🇱🇰

I had a pleasant experience at Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) in Colombo. The check-in process was surprisingly efficient and quick, even during a busy morning period, which made navigating the terminal a breeze. The staff were cooperative and helpful, aligning with the warm hospitality I experienced at places like Shangri-La Colombo and One Galle Face Mall during my trip. The airport’s infrastructure is basic but well-designed, with a compact layout that’s easy to navigate, especially for transit passengers. The contemporary design with Sri Lankan cultural motifs adds a nice touch, though it feels a bit outdated in parts. There are various dining options, from fast food like Burger King to local Sri Lankan dishes at places like Palm Strip Restaurant. However, prices are steep, expect to pay ~$12-$15 for a meal, which is high for the region. My main gripe was the limited shopping options. The duty-free zone focuses heavily on electronics, which isn’t ideal for tourists. I was specifically looking for a Lotus Tower souvenir to commemorate my visit to Colombo, but the only option was an expensive glass-covered model that felt overpriced for what it was. Also, I couldn’t find a bookstore, which was disappointing. Overall, CMB is a functional airport with efficient check-in and a decent atmosphere, but the lack of diverse shops and affordable souvenirs holds it back. Fine for a quick transit, but don’t expect a robust shopping experience.

Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport is organized and steadily improves with modern facilities and efficient services. The airport staff is friendly and helpful. Immigration and customs procedures are usually smooth. The cleanliness of the terminals, along with shops, lounges, and restaurants, makes the travel experience more comfortable. It serves as a strong gateway to Sri Lanka, reflecting the country's warmth and hospitality.

Review of Bandaranaike International Airport, Colombo, Sri Lanka During my recent visit to Bandaranaike International Airport, I had a generally pleasant experience, although there were a few challenges. The waiting area was quite enjoyable, offering a fantastic view of the runway. Watching planes land, take off, and park was fascinating, and it made the wait more enjoyable. It was a peaceful spot to relax and take in the airport's atmosphere. However, finding a suitable Muslim meal was a bit difficult. While there was a wide variety of cuisines available, I struggled to locate halal food options. It would be helpful if more clearly marked choices for Muslim travelers were made available. The duty-free shops had a great selection, but the prices were quite expensive. I didn’t make any purchases, but it’s worth noting for those considering shopping at the airport. One thing that stood out was the number of people who seemed to be sleeping on the floor while transiting. While I understand the need to rest during long layovers, it felt like a sign of the airport’s limited seating in certain areas. Hopefully, they could provide more comfortable resting areas in the future. In terms of customs, I noticed that there were strict checks for local passengers, while foreign tourists seemed to pass through customs with minimal inspection. Overall, my experience at Bandaranaike International Airport was good, though there’s room for improvement.

Overall, everything is good. People are warm and welcoming. Security staff are very helpful - they will help you with your luggage. Check-in staff are also professional, and the airport is clean and well-maintained. The airport toilets were clean and the cleaning staff were very attentive.
