Villa 1972 Matara

I spent a wonderful day at Hotel Villa 1972 for a yoga class and dinner with a show. The location is far from the usual tourist destinations, ideal for those seeking peace and quiet. Surrounded by greenery, the rooms offer a splendid view of the rice fields. We used the private pool, which was fantastic and incredibly relaxing! The show with traditional masks and fire was interesting, and the dinner was delicious, featuring freshly cooked local produce. I recommend this place for those seeking a truly relaxing vacation!

Beautiful villas with stunning views over a green valley, mountains, and temple. Lovely pools and a beautiful garden. The staff is fantastic and very friendly. At sunset, all sorts of animals come to visit: singing birds, monkeys, and so on. We also attended a wonderful Sri Lankan evening with traditional dancers which was spectacular. The food and snacks were delicious and of high quality. I highly recommend a stay at Villa 1972. It's also in a quiet location, allowing you to truly relax and enjoy plenty of privacy.

We had the privilege of spending the last five nights of our 2.5-week journey through Sri Lanka at Villa 1972, and it was an absolute highlight of our trip. From the moment we arrived, we felt completely at home. The food was excellent —whether it was the delicious breakfasts, the delightful snacks, or the exquisite dinners, every meal was prepared with so much care and flavor. A special mention must go to Dewon and Limesha, who truly made our stay unforgettable. They are two of the most wonderful, kind-hearted, and attentive people we’ve ever met. Their warmth and genuine hospitality added such a personal touch to our experience. If you’re looking for a place that combines comfort, outstanding cuisine, and the most incredible people, Villa 1972 is an absolute must. We couldn’t have asked for a better way to end our adventure in Sri Lanka. Thank you for the memories—we can’t wait to return!

We had a beautiful 1 night stay in this place. Beautiful spacious room with our own private plunge pool overlooking a stunning view. The food was amazing. Divone and Nimesha were really good hosts as well!
